How LEAF Dispatch Works: FAQ

LEAF (Location Enabled Asset Finder) is Jet Delivery’s dispatch system. It’s designed to consistently match the best available driver to each job based on timing, location, and other operational factors.

We know dispatch can sometimes feel confusing, especially when you don’t see a job come through that you expected. This page is here to explain how LEAF works, answer common questions from drivers, and be transparent about what the system does (and what it doesn’t do).

LEAF isn’t perfect, and we continue to tune and improve it. What you can rely on is that when LEAF dispatches, it follows the same rules for everyone - there is no favoritism. If something ever feels off, we can review the dispatch logs for specific jobs.

  • Does LEAF play favorites or bypass certain drivers?

No. When a job is dispatched through LEAF, the system is not choosing based on favoritism. It uses the same scoring rules for everyone and ranks drivers based on the best fit for that job (timing, distance/ETA, current workload, and other factors).

If you believe a specific job should have gone to you, send the job number and we can pull the LEAF logs to confirm whether you were considered and who the system ranked higher.

  • Why didn’t I receive a job that was in my area?

Most of the time it comes down to one of these reasons:

    • You were not clocked in / available at the time the job was offered.
    • Another driver ranked higher and accepted the job before it expanded.
    • You were already on an active job, which can lower your ranking for a new job.
    • LEAF projected other drivers would be in a better position later (based on their assigned jobs and ETA).
    • The job was manually assigned by dispatch (not sent through LEAF).

If you share the job number, we can review the specific reason in the logs.

  • How does LEAF know where I am?

LEAF can only match you to nearby jobs if it has a current location for you.

To be considered for LEAF-dispatched jobs, you must:

    • Be logged into the Jet Driver app
    • Allow location/GPS permissions (and keep them enabled)
    • Set your status to Available

If the app isn’t running, location permission is off, your phone has location services disabled, or your status isn’t set to Available, LEAF may not “see” you correctly and you may not be considered for job offers.

  • What does my “score” mean in LEAF?

LEAF uses a score to compare driver fit for a job. Lower score = better fit. The score is based on things like expected arrival time, distance/route, job timing, and whether you’re already committed to other active work.

The exact scoring rules can evolve as we improve the system, but the important part is that the same scoring method is applied consistently.

  • Why don’t you send every job to every driver at the same time?

We often use a “dripped offer” approach. That means the job is offered to the best-fit driver first, then—if it isn’t accepted—LEAF expands the offer to the next driver(s) after a short delay.

This helps reduce chaos on the app (everyone getting the same alert at once) and improves the chances the job goes to the best match quickly.

  • Can dispatch manually assign a job instead of using LEAF?

Yes. Some jobs may be manually assigned by dispatch for operational reasons. When that happens, the job does not go through LEAF scoring or the normal offer/roll process.

  • Is there a maximum amount I can earn? Does LEAF limit driver earnings?

No. LEAF does not track what a driver has earned for the day, week, or pay period, and there is no earnings “cap” in the system.

LEAF’s job is to match the best available driver to each job using its dispatch rules.

  • Why am I seeing a job offer hours early?

LEAF looks ahead up to 12 hours and tries to match upcoming jobs with drivers who are currently active.

If the system thinks you can take a future pickup and till complete your current stops on time, it may send the offer early, even if it’s still early in the morning.

On the flip side, our dispatch team often asks why LEAF didn't dispatch a job, it's usually because LEAF doesn’t see any active driver who can take it without risking another stop being late. In that case, it holds the job and keeps looking as drivers come online or schedules change.

If you’re enrolled in DAE Alerts, you may also get a heads-up when work is available in your area. DAE alerts are sent closer to pickup time (often around 60 minutes before) and are meant to help bring nearby drivers online when coverage is needed.
